Artist Spotlight - Doc Yukon
This month, HarmoNNY is thrilled to be featuring a band of phenomenally talented musicians for July’s Artist Spotlight. Doc Yukon is a local favorite that always puts on an engaging, high energy performance.
The band consists of four musicians who specialize in “tasty grooves and generous four part harmonies.” Members include Brian Beyer on guitar, Mark Getman on drums, Andy Wack on guitar, Andrew Willis on bass, and a sound man who they lovingly call “Ceech.” Their set list includes a wide variety of music to appeal to a large audience from Rush and Hall and Oates to Shania Twain and Lady Gaga. The band has been performing together for five years and still includes all original members.
The past few years, Doc Yukon has been performing for more private events including weddings, graduation parties, and more as this avenue was more consistent with everchanging COVID-19 regulations. Even still, there are plenty of opportunities to catch them performing this summer, including at the French Fest in Cape Vincent, during Pirates Weekend in Alexandria Bay, and at an outdoor concert in Carthage. Be sure to check the HarmoNNY calendar for a full list of dates.
Doc Yukon’s drummer, Mark Getman, began playing the drums when he was in fifth grade for Lafargeville Central School’s music program and has loved it ever since. Mark shared that he feels lucky to have found this group of guys to perform with because they fit together well and have a good chemistry. “If you’re in a good ensemble, there’s just no other feeling like it, when you play something and everybody is locked in, firing on all cylinders, things are tight, that part of it, that’s the addictive part of it, of playing music live.”
