Artist Spotlight - Mirabella Phinney

Bella Phinney.jpg

Mirabella Phinney is a young, vibrant, multi-talented musician. She comes from a musical family and her love for music and performing began at a young age when she became involved in a community theater program at the age of five. Bella’s talents have since flourished and she now plays piano, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, sings, and records her own music.

Bella recently released an EP entitled Letter In the Lion’s Mouth, which can be found on all streaming platforms. One song from the album “I’m Not Dreaming” was written when Bella found out she would not be able to return to school to finish her senior year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The song depicts the emotions of not being able to spend time with her friends and finish off her senior year the way she had hoped.

Bella gets a lot of her inspiration from poetry and reading. During this pandemic, Bella has had more time to create and experiment. She recently wrote a new song, “Fade Away,” which she graciously gave HarmoNNY an exclusive performance of. Bella shared that this song is about being true to yourself and not becoming too comfortable.

Bella currently attends Oneonta where she is studying Music Industry. Bella’s dream is to be a touring musician, but she also enjoys the behind the scenes aspects of music and hopes to someday have her own recording studio label. Bella’s most recent EP was recorded by herself with the help of her cousin, Quory Soluri and her friend, Dalton Sutton.

Bella encourages any aspiring musician to not set any boundaries for yourself. “I think they should be confident in what they’re doing and even if it doesn’t sound like the typical thing that you would write or doesn’t look like the typical thing you would paint, you made it and it’s still you. It’s a part of you, it doesn’t matter if it doesn't fit your typical style.”
